Review of Hotel Salento Real in the Coffee Region of Colombia

Location

The Salento Real Hotel is located in the town of Salento in the Southern Highlands of Colombia. It takes about 5 hours on a bus south from Medellin to get there. When you get off in the town square you walk about five minutes up the main shopping street (there is only one), take a left on Calle 3 and it is there on the right. It is the only Hotel in the town

To lay your head

Hotel Salento Real has over 25 beautiful rooms, which are primarily located around a courtyard which has been magnificently designed. The hotel is only 6 months old and the rooms reflect that newness. The high ceilings and funky art work stand out against the stone cut walls and dark wood. The beds are large and super comfy. A maid service cleans the rooms daily, to really high western standards.

Eating

The Hotel Salento Real has a fine restaurant which serves up a delicious breakfast just off the hotel lobby. The chef is designing a Euro Fusion menu for dinner which promises to be a highlight of any stay in this part of Colombia.

Wifi

The Wi-Fi works perfectly in the entire hotel.

Activities

The hotel offers tours and information on all tours which you can do in the area. Just ask at the lobby.

Some of the local countryside has some of the best coffee plantations in Colombia and they are really worth a visit. There are also some great walks to lookout points which surround the town. You can take a $2 taxi to visit some incredible countryside which features the iconic giant Colombian palm trees in rolling countryside hills.

The only hotel in town!

Being the only proper hotel in the town gives Salento Real a real edge. You get the same quality service and facilities that you would expect in any major international hotel, but you get them in a rural paradise.

The staff here are more than happy to help and are well trained and efficient. This friendly attention to excellence really makes you feel perfectly at home.
