Location
The Betsy Hotel is situated right on South Beach Miami, right in the heart of the action and just metres from the ocean. This historic building was completely renovated and in 2009 reopened to the public. As well as the impressive physicality of the place there is an ever present ethos of service, art and community that makes this a uniquely special space.
To lay your head
This is more than a place to lay your head! If the hotel was a band it would be called Lush, Lush, Lush! The lobby and bar area is lush, luxurious ambience with plush loungers and when we visited, featured an intimate collection of photos found by the son of the tour manager of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
The rooms are a luxury beach haven with wooden shutters and heavenly bedding. Many hotels lose any sense of homely comfort when designing for luxury. The Betsy has covered both beautifully.
Eating
BLT restaurant is famed for their Angus beef, but they have their fingers in many pies, serving up delicious renditions of classic menu items, their ridiculously good popovers (with the recipe!) and an exquisite sushi menu.
As well as in the restaurant, you can enjoy your meal while soaking up the ambience in the front terrace, up top on the roof deck and of course, for a night in with room service.
Activities
The Betsy is situated right on South Beach, and their service carries over to the beach! The hotel is deceivingly spacious and your mood can dictate which services you enjoy, including relaxing in by the pool or enjoying treatments on the gorgeous spa. For the more physical touch, there is a gym and yoga at sunrise on the rooftop.
Once the sun goes down, enjoy regular music and poetry as well as a huge variety of special art events. There is genuinely something for all tastes and moods.

The thing that clearly differentiates the Betsy is their dedication to philanthropy and the arts. There is an inspiring air of generosity and giving that we have never seen before in a hotel of this calibre and this is really just the cherry on the top of a gorgeous stay.
